A great 2-1 night here last night as the week rolls on. Tonight we have some good series finishing up and others starting. Today we’re picking games from Chicago with the Giants coming to town, the Marlins meeting the Braves and the Yankees hosting the Red Sox in the final game of their series. There are some interesting things going on out there so let’s take a closer look and see what we can find.

The Yankees meet the Red Sox in New York tonight and they’ll send CC Sabathia to the mound. Sabathia has been absolutely brutal at home this season and has especially been crushed hard by right handed hitters. With Rusney Castillo, Xander Bogaerts, Hanley Ramirez and Mike Napoli all swinging big bats from the right side, New York could be in trouble.

On the other side of the ball we have Eduardo Rodriguez who isn’t very good either. He has a 5.15 ERA this season with a 2.3 HR/9 rate which is not good at all going against the Yankees offense who has been one of the very best in the league this season. My advice tonight? Stack Yankees and Red Sox hitters, bet the over.

On the opposite end of the spectrum we have the Marlins going to Atlanta. The Marlins send Jose Urena to the mound who has great stuff, but hasn’t been able to put it together just yet. He gets a favorable match-up tonight against the Braves, but he’ll need to show better control to get the win. I do think this will be one of his better starts of the season (but that’s more of a gut call). He goes against Matt Wisler who I like as a mid-tier starter. He’s a decent pitcher who will look much better against this weak Marlins offense. I don’t think this will be a particularly high scoring game and I think we should take the under tonight.

Bet Under 7.5 Runs at:

Jason Hammel goes for the Cubs against the Giants in Chicago tonight. Hammel is having a great season with just a 3.13 ERA and has a solid match-up tonight against the Giants who will be without star player Buster Posey. The Giants offense is simply a different animal without Posey and I really like the Cubs tonight without him. He goes against Chris Heston who has pitched very well, so I don’t think this will be a particularly high scoring game, but the Cubs looked like a strong play.

A low key fantasy target may be the Twins tonight against Mark Buehrle. His ERA has been very low lately, but his peripheral stats don’t back up his performance. His extremely low strikeout rate and good luck in July show that a regression is coming. The Twins have hit lefties hard all season so that regression could come tonight.
