August 27th, 2015 MLB Betting & DFS Tips

A great 2-0-1 last night brings us to 8-0-1 on the week! Thanks so much for following us and we’ll do our best to keep the hot streak alive. Our Indians/Brewers pick was our lone push of the week and it came oh so very close. The Brewers offense just couldn’t get it done when they had chances to score. Still, I like the way the Indians lefties played in fantasy and if I just could’ve nailed my pitcher we’d have had something to brag about today. Oh, well. Let’s get into today’s tips and DFS picks.

The red hot Twins meet the Rays tonight as Minnesota tries to continue their six game winning streak. They catapulted themselves right back into the AL Wild Card discussion when everyone had seemingly already forgot about them. Today they send Tommy Millone to the mound and I don’t see things ending well for him. The Rays are the 5th best team in baseball against left handed starters and he has the potential to get absolutely rocked today. Luckily, he goes against another left hander in Drew Smyly and the Twins also hit lefties pretty well. Neither of those pitchers instill fear into me and I fully expect this game to go over it’s low posted total.

Speaking of hot teams, is there anyone hotter than the New York Mets right now? The Mets face the Phillies in the series finale and it should be more of the same this evening. They have gone over the posted total by themselves in four of their past six games and had the total go over in nine of their last ten games. As an offense, they are absolutely on fire right now and I can’t find a good reason to go against them. Aaron Harang is actually a solid reason to go for them as he is not the kind of pitcher that anyone should fear right now. The Mets send Jon Niese to the mound and while he has pitched very well this season he is likely to give up two or three runs to help this one shoot over. Make no mistake though, this pick is all about the Mets.

The Mariners and White Sox begin a four game series in Chicago tonight. The Mariners offense in the second half has been one of the very best in baseball and they’ll have their hands full tonight with Chicago’s former first round pick Carlos Rodon. He has great stuff, but he hasn’t quite put it all together and I think the Mariners offense can make him pay tonight. Roener Elias goes for the Mariners and while I wouldn’t recommend him in daily fantasy, I do like his chances against a White Sox offense that ranks dead last against left handed starters this season. I think Elias will do enough and Nelson Cruz and the rest of the gang will do enough to steal the win tonight.
