We’re back from vacation with three picks today so let’s get right into them.

The Yankees and Red Sox continue their rivalry today and much like most of the history of that rivalry, the Yankees should do pretty well. Rookie Henry Owens goes for the Sox and while he should have a great career ahead of him, he is completely over his head today. The Yankees are the third best hitting team against left handed pitchers this season and they can stack against him in a way that most other teams haven’t. He pitched well against them in his major league debut, allowing three runs in five innings, but they chased him early and got into that juicy Red Sox bullpen. That could easily happen again today and I like the Yankees a lot. They throw Masahiro Tanaka to the mound who should do well enough to grab a win today.

Chris Young is a great value play in the early slate at:

The struggling Nationals face the Cardinals in St. Louis and despite Max Scherzer being on the mound I don’t see things getting much better for them. Scherzer hasn’t been the ace we’ve known him to be as of late, allowing three or more runs in six of his past seven starts and he’s allowed 10 homeruns in that stretch. He’s not himself right now and I am not betting on him to come back tonight. He goes against Michael Wacha who is on the opposite track right now with a 0.92 ERA over his past six starts. He’s at home today as well where he has a far better ERA throughout his career and always seems to do well there. Things are just going to keep getting worse for the Nationals after the Cardinals hand them a loss tonight.

A Cardinals stack might be a good contrarian play while Wacha is a safe one at:

The first place Royals face the Tigers today and I like this game as a high scoring one. Randy Wolf goes for the Tigers and while he has looked good in his first two starts the other shoe should drop today. The Royals don’t strikeout much and they make a ton of contact which should spell trouble for Wolf today. He’s posted a 4.38 FIP in his career and at 38 years old he isn’t the type of pitcher who can shut down a team like the Royals. He goes against Yordano Ventura who holds a 4.41 ERA on the season. He goes against one of the toughest offenses in baseball in the Tigers. The Tigers have a .320 wOBA against right handed pitchers which is one of the best in all of baseball and they should get to Ventura today. I like this game to go over the total today and the Royals are a cheap offense option when building your lineup that could pay off big.

The Royals are cheap and should score some runs today. Pair them with Kershaw at:
