September 3rd, 2015 MLB Betting & DFS Tips

Updated: September 3, 2015

A 2-0 night last night thanks to Randy Wolf doing exactly what we thought he would do and the Yankees offense doing what we thought they would do. Michael Wacha was a late scratch and our Cardinals bet was voided because of it, but other than that it was a strong night. (We always recommend placing your bets with “STARTING PITCHER must throw first pitch or NO ACTION” selected.)

Last night was one of those nights when I should have played at DraftKings. I played at FanDuel and did a Royals stack with Clayton Kershaw. Unfortunately, I stacked the wrong Royals (no Cain, no Cuthbert) and finished out of the money. It hurts to waste a performance like that when your analysis is correct. If I’d have done the same thing at DraftKings and just taken ALL OF THE ROYALS things might have turned out differently. You live and learn in daily fantasy.

Tonight there are only six games on the slate and we have tips for two as well as a fantasy tip. Let’s get right into it.

The Giants head to Colorado to start a series with the Rockies and I am really loving them tonight. I know, offense in Coors Field is the most obvious thing ever, but I especially like the Giants there. They’ve been the 8th best hitting team by wOBA in all of baseball despite spending their time in the pitcher’s haven in San Francisco. They have a nice match-up with Chris Rusin today who holds a 5.06 ERA at home this season with a low strikeout percentage. The Giants will hit him and hit him hard. Ryan Vogelsong is targetable as well with Rockies hitters, but I think the Giants just have more firepower and a better bullpen to grab them the win today.

I really like the Dodgers at San Diego tonight as well. Mat Latos goes for the Dodgers and he should feel right at home in San Diego where he spent the first part of his career. Many pitchers pitch worse on the road because of their unfamiliarity with the mounds, the ballpark and everything else. Latos won’t have that problem and I’m expecting his best start of the season here tonight. He’s my top target for SP in fantasy tonight. He goes against Colin Rea who has been decent in his young career, but not so good as to fear him. The Dodgers are one of the top teams in the league and they are better at the Padres at just about every facet of the game. Feel comfortable rolling with them tonight.

The Royals are huge favorites over the Tigers tonight with Matt Boyd on the mound for Detroit. This could be a repeat of last night for the Royals offense and they are a great stack option on all formats. If you’re looking for a non-Coors stack the Royals are a great place to start.
