September 8th, 2015 MLB Betting & DFS Tips

Updated: September 8, 2015

I hope everyone had a good holiday weekend here in the states. There was a lot of fun baseball over that weekend that we missed, but luckily for us there is a ton of great match-ups tonight as well. It’s a Clayton Kershaw night and a very special one at that as he faces off against Mike Trout and the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. The best pitcher taking on the best hitter could be very fun, even if the teams involved aren’t even at all. There is also a great pitching match-up in Cincinnati (you read that right) and a big playoff level game going down in Washington tonight. It should be a good one so let’s just get right into it.

MLB Betting & Daily Fantasy Baseball Tips:

We’ll start with our top fantasy pick of the day as the Rays face the Tigers. Hitters from both teams should well in this one, but I especially like the Rays for a stack. Despite their no-name lineup they are actually the 5th best team in wOBA against left handed pitchers. They get Matt Boyd today who has been pounded in his young career. He’s probably not MLB ready quite yet, but the Tigers keep sending him out there to get hit. He will get hit today and I love Rays in fantasy because their prices are all low and they should perform well. They are great if you want to fit Kershaw or some expensive Blue Jays into your lineup.

A great pitching match-up between the Reds and Pirates goes down tonight in Cincinnati. Francisco Liriano is putting together a very solid season with a 3.38 ERA/3.40 FIP. He could be completely overmatched today though with Rasiel Iglesias on the mound. He’s been a strikeout machine with a 10.0 K/9 rate on the season and over his past five starts he’s been even better with a 2.38 ERA and 0.76 WHIP. He’s killing it right now and is a great pitching option in DFS today as he’s $1,800 cheaper than Liriano at FanDuel. I like both of these pitchers a lot tonight and expect this one to go under.

The Nationals and Mets continue their series tonight and if the Nationals are ever going to make their move, now is the time. Unfortunately for them they get Matt Harvey on the mound. Harvey has been great all season, but we feel like he’ll have a little extra motivation tonight as he is nearing his innings limit and this could be his last long start until the playoffs. It’s unclear how the Mets will handle the situation, but for tonight we can count on Harvey to do his thing. He goes against Jordan Zimmerman who is a good pitcher and favored on most nights, but not tonight. Harvey is taking this one.

In Miami we have the red hot Brewers facing the Marlins. The Brewers are off to a 6-1 start in September and could add to that total tonight with Taylor Jungmann on the mound. He’s having a great season, only allowing more than two runs in two of his 16 starts and today he gets a Marlins team that is one of the worst in all of baseball against right handed pitchers. He goes against Adam Conley who has struggled in all facets of the game so far this season and the Brewers should continue their winning ways.
