September 9th, 2015 MLB Betting & DFS Tips

The Rays were very solid yet unspectacular last night, but they were just what my team needed for pairing with Clayton Kershaw who grabbed the win over the Angels last night. It was a mixed bag last night with some weird happenings around the league, but we’ll keep on rolling today. Let’s take a look at what we have for this evening.

MLB Betting & Daily Fantasy Baseball Tips:

The Orioles and Yankees face off in the Bronx tonight with CC Sabathia and Ubaldo Jimenez on the mound for their respective teams. Both of these pitchers are great to target against, especially CC Sabathia who has a 6.07 ERA at home this season and has been killed by right handed hitters. Machado, Schoop, Joseph and Reimold are all great targets in fantasy tonight. The Orioles send Ubaldo Jimenez who is being thrown to the wolves against this Yankees offense. This could be one of the highest scoring games of the night and we’ll be targeting hitters from both teams in this one.

A great starting pitching option tonight is Josh Tomlin of the Indians against the White Sox. Tomlin has a 2.55 ERA over the past month with an excellent 24.6% strikeout rate and 2.3% walk rate. He’s probably the top value pitcher on FanDuel tonight. He goes against Jeff Samardzija who has been very unreliable this season and I like the Indians to do what it takes to win this one against him.

The Jays face the Red Sox tonight and look to continue their hot hitting. Jose Bautista and Encarnacion always seem to hit well in Fenway Park and they will get a chance to do so tonight against Joe Kelly. Kelly has posted a low ERA over the past month, but all of his peripheral and advanced stats show him to be the same pitcher he’s been all season. (Which is not a good one.) The Jays are in play (as always) in DFS today and I think they will win this one. They send Drew Hutchison who has been very solid of late with a 3.54 ERA (that matches his SIERA) over the past month. He’s kept his walks down which has helped him a lot and he should do just enough to lead his team to a win tonight. It’s not every day you get to bet the Jays at just -125 and we’re jumping at the opportunity to do so today.

Down in Florida the Brewers and Marlins continue their series tonight. The Brewers will send first time starter Ariel Pena to the mound against Miami. Over the past two seasons he’s owned a 4+ ERA and a high walk rate. He has good strikeout numbers, but he is hittable and I think the Marlins might do some damage against him tonight. He goes against Tom Koehler who has had a rough season. The Brewers roughed him up back on August 19th for 7 runs in 4 1/3 innings. I like this game as an over as I don’t think either pitcher will make it deep into the game.
